I came across an article on TIME that asked CEOs what they suggest everyone do in their 20s. What did a majority of them have in common that they recommended? TRAVEL.
Traveling is such a huge, life-changing experience. It opens your eyes to the world and lets you live outside of your bubble. It helps you understand about the past and how it correlates to the present.
“You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.” -Aaron Smith
Travel makes you question what you know and learn how to think differently. You learn that plans change and things don’t always go the way you want them to, but that you’ll get through it somehow, someway.
It helps you problem-solve, gain people skills, and figure out what really matters to your happiness. You learn that you really do have nothing to lose and everything to gain .
This trip is about so much more than galavanting around Europe and burning time & money- something that I don’t think everyone understands. Travel lets you learn about the world and how you fit into it. How ironic it is that getting lost can help you find yourself?
So I’m glad I can daringly follow the guidance of however many CEOs who gave their advice to travel. It contributed to their success at some point in their lives, and I have a feeling they’re onto something.
